Coffee isn’t that popular in Philippines but I need one to start the day. Mina’s sister gave me these “Japanese Coffee” contraptions that did the job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This morning our first stop was the cemetery to visit the graves of Mina’s father and sister. On the way we stopped for a coconut drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cemeteries here are somewhat different to those in NZ – the graves themselves are far more elaborate, and the fact there’s people living there. We visited the graves of Mina’s relatives. It was sad to see the monument to Mina’s aunty who I’d lived with for a few months in the early 2000s who died a few years ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After our visit we walked through the barangay to visit the house that Mina’s aunty had lived in, and is now occupied by another aunty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wires are hung haphazardly to say the least in Philippines. We found a wire hanging loose over the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before we left for our 4th place of the trip Mina had her “boodle fight” – a traditional Philippine spread of shared food. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the debacle with the AirBnB apartment we were to stay in we’ve had to adapt and adjust. AirBnB gave us a full refund, but it’s left us scrambling. We spent 3 great nights up at Mina’s sister’s house in Caloocan, and tonight we’re back down next to where we started, this time at Nobu. This place is supposed to be second to Nuwa, but although the service isn’t quite 5 star the rooms are just as good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The afternoon was spent trying our hardest to find a place for our last night here, followed by an evening by the pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
