We had pre-booked tickets to climb to the top of the dome of the Duomo. It was somewhat confusing as to how to get in, having booked on the internet we had to collect our ticket from a special office. Once in we made it around the whole gallery with only minutes to spare before it closed. Going late in the afternoon meant most of the crowds had subsided, so although there were still the odd idiots getting right up close and obscuring the paintings, it wasn&#8217;t too bad.
