Ingredients

  • 4 egg whites
  • 3/4 cup (185g) caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornflour
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • cream and fruit for decoration

Preparation method

  • Prep: 10 minutes |Cook: 15 minutes
  1. Preheat oven to 150 degrees C. Grease and line a Swiss roll or lamington tin.
  2. Whisk egg whites until stiff, gradually whisk in sugar, beat well. Fold in cornflour, vinegar and vanilla.
  3. Spread mixture in Swiss roll tin which has been greased with butter and lined with grease proof paper.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes at 150 degrees C.
  5. Remove from oven and allow to go cold in tin.
  6. It will shrink down when cooling. When cold turn onto a piece of sugared paper and remove the baking paper from the pavlova.
  7. Spread with whipped cream, sliced strawberries, sliced bananas any fruit of your choice.
  8. Roll up like a Swiss roll. Top can be sprinkled with castor sugar or grated chocolate.
