Garmin XT

Install the software

  1. Download the XT program
  2. Download the support files http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3493
  3. Download the Keygen http://www.mobilesmania.com/forum/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=248087
  4. Run the GMXT v5.0 installation files - choose your destination (install to memory card), then click on Install
  5. Once completed, you have to repeat step 1 for installation of GMXT support files.
  6. Remove phone from your pc. Open x-plore (file manager), browse to E:\\GarminMobileXT.sis & install it.
  7. Launch GMXT. 1st time, it will prompt for settings of languages, units, etc. so, choose your preferred settings.
  8. Take the bottom option, then next, you will see main menu screen. Choose Tools -> About -> make note of your Card ID & close the app.
  9. Run GMXT keygen. Enter card ID & press the top Generate key to generate a device unlock code.
  10. Copy the device unlock key & paste in Notepad. Save the file as SW.UNL (choose save as type: All Files)
  11. Move the SW.UNL file to your memory card --> under "Garmin" directory..
  12. Now, run GMXT -> Tools -> Settings -> System ->Remote GPS. Choose enable "Use Attached/Built-in GPS".

Install the Maps

Use MapSource to install maps to device. However Mapsource requires a [revious version already installed. The way around this is here http://freegeographytools.com/2007/garmin-mapsource-for-free

  1. Get the Training Center Software from Garmin http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=835
  2. Get the Mapsource Software
  3. Install the Traing Center (don't bother hooking up a Garmin - exit at that point)
  4. Install Mapsource
  5. Get the Mapsource data from http://nzopengps.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6&Itemid=11 download the installer, install it to integrate with Mapsource
  6. Open Mapsource, Choose Free Open GPS NZ Autorouting, then choose the Map Tool button and select the whole coountry on the map
  7. Transfer, Send to Device, Garmin Mobile XT
