FRIED PRAWN WITH SESAME SEEDS recipe

Ingredients

  • Oil, for deep frying
  • 12 large prawns, deheaded, peeled, tail left on, & de-veined

For the batter

  • 15g plain flour
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tbs. sesame seeds

For the dipping sauce

  • 3 tbs. light soy sauce
  • ½ tsp. sugar
  • 5-6 coriander leaves, chopped

Procedure

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour & salt.
  2. Break the egg into the mixture & mix thoroughtly.
  3. Add 225ml water & sesame seeds gradually, whisking constantly.
  4. You should have thick, creamy batter.
  1. Heat oil until light haze appears.
  2. Dip each prawn into the batter, ensuring it is well coated, and drop into the hot oil.
  3. Deep fry until golden brown.
  4. Remove from the oil, drain & place on a serving dish.
  • To make the dipping sauce, mix the soy sauce with sugar & chopped coriander leaves in a small bowl.
  • Serve with the the prawns
