Eclipse

  1. Install Eclipse from the website (Ubuntu repositories are too far out of date). I got the eclipse Classic version http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/
  2. Install the Aptana plugin http://www.aptana.com/
    1. Install the bits you want - it seemed to take 3 or so iterations
  3. Install Bazaar plugin http://bazaar-vcs.org/BzrEclipse/Installation
    1. Requires bzr-xmloutput

Install Ruby on Rails

  1. Choose ruby 1.9 from repository, then rubygems1.9 - rubygems is like apt for ruby.
  2. gem install rails
